Promoting Women’s economic empowerment through entrepreneurship promotion and enhance employment opportunities for them in the state of Bihar

| Economic empowerment of women is essential both for holistic empowerment and to achieve broader development goals like poverty reduction, health, education and welfare. It is a powerful tool that promotes women’s ability to achieve their rights and well being while also reducing household poverty and increasing economic growth.

| To fulfill its vision of Social, Economic and Cultural Empowerment of Women in the state of Bihar, Women Development Corporation has set up a Project Implementation Unit (PIU) to implement social and economic empowerment schemes
|
| The Economic Empowerment component of PIU envisions to ‘Promote Women’s economic empowerment through entrepreneurship promotion and enhance employment opportunities for them in the state of Bihar’.
|
| Under the project WDC aims to:
|
| • Support women entrepreneurs for setting up/ expanding/ scaling the business activities and provide employment opportunities to women
|
| • Support in the areas of financial linkages, market linkages, entrepreneurship development and business start-up.
|
| • Create an enabling environment for promotion of suitable economic opportunities and sustainable livelihoods for women in urban, sub-urban and rural areas in Bihar.
|
| The three year project will cover all 38 districts of Bihar with special focus on Patna district in the beginning.
|
| The broad activities under the project are as under:

| • Incubation Centre for Promotion of Startup/ Entrepreneurship, manufacturing & Service Sector
|
| o Handholding support on setting up/ up scaling of enterprises through technical support, financial linkages, market linkages, leveraging available government & institutional assistance for business development
|
| o Enhancing employability by organizing specialized training, organizing job fairs, linking with other entrepreneurs, providing industry interface etc for Women /young women trained on skill development
|
| • Skill Development & Training
|
| o Sector and Trade based Capacity building/ enhancement
|
| o Entrepreneurship Development and Enterprise Management
|
| o Business Start-up
|
| • Manufacturing Sector
|
| o Setting up CFCs/ Training cum production centre owned by Producer company/ producer organization and managed by a team of professionals
|
| o Provide technical assistance, design support and facilitate necessary registrations, branding, promotion and assist in establishing financial and marketing support linkages
|
| • Service Sector
|
| o Advanced and refresher training for skilled women in different sector to promote placements and Self Employment/ Entrepreneurship Development
|
| o Establish linkages with market players within and outside state to promote placements
|
| o Assist in financial support or access to financial support
|
| • Start-up
|
| o Support and Promote Start up with new business ideas
|
| o Provide technical support and capacity building for enterprise development, facilitate bank linkages like Mudra loan etc., and provide marketing support.
|
| • Agriculture/Fisheries/Animal Husbandry
|
| o Promoting nursery, vertical gardening, landscaping, backyard poultry, dairy, fisheries and goatry
|
| o Leveraging support from government schemes & government department for skill training and asset creation
|
